"What is new in housing?" was the focus of presentations from a number of European countries which all highlighted the importance of tradition and sustainability in contemporary architecture.
Presentations of award winning projects shared examples of the use of experimental methods and materials to build sustainable housing; how to achieve sustainable principles in social aspects, ecological urban structures, recreational areas and infrastructure; using local capacity through the use of local resources; the need to raise awareness of architects, building developers and users about the environment; a need for the building industry to develop long-term sustainable solutions etc.
