Artists have joined a growing movement to save the environment and they use art to criticise, educate and inform.Using old and discarded objects which are recycled in the process of creating art is widespread. The art made in this way, be it sculptures, jewellery or furniture raises awareness of the importance of recycling for restoring and maintaining natural resources.
The article gives examples of the successful re-use of objects, such as the use of street signs by the award winning artist Boris Bally to make furniture or the sculptures made from waste materials by Leo Sewell displayed in more than 40 museums around the world or the artist, surfer and activist Kathleen Egan who participates in beach clean-ups and produces art from the objects she finds.
