Appreciating the significance of 20th-century architecture in Montenegro and concerned about its disappearance, the Ministry of Culture has proposed a set of activities in order to protect this segment of Montenegrin heritage. It will be done through the Programme for the protection and preservation of cultural heritage in 2012, adopted by the Government of Montenegro at its session of 29 December 2011. The activities towards the protection of 20th-century architecture in Montenegro will be implemented by the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Properties. They will include various actions, such as engaging and involving a large number of professionals, organizing different workshops, conducting a complex research work, assessing the value of cultural properties and making decision on obtaining the status of cultural property for each object whose cultural value has been ascertained.
The aim of the round table “Protecting the 20th-Century Architecture” is to acquaint the participants with the future activities that will be undertaken by the state in order to protect this valuable segment of Montenegrin heritage. The round table will present the experiences in 20th-century architecture protection from other countries, of experts and professors at the University of Architecture in Podgorica and experts from the Ministry of Culture and the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Properties.
