Prefect of Dubrovnik–Neretva County, Mr. Nikola Dobroslavić, director of Dubrovnik Neretva County Regional Development Agency DUNEA, Ms. Melanija Milić and director of Physical Planning Institute of Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Ms. Marina Oreb, presented at a press conference the project “Heritage – Driver of Development”, funded to the amount of about 4.2 million kunas through the IPA programme of the European Union.

On that occasion, the prefect pointed out that the County recognizes the value and importance of EU funds, which has led to setting up the Agency, strengthening its team and opening an office of Dubrovnik–Neretva County in Brussels since his undertaking the duty of County’s prefect. As the result of these activities the County has implemented projects whose value exceeds 70 million kunas, financed from the EU funds and prepared projects, about 460 million kunas worth, for the EU structural and cohesion funds.

Through the project, lasting for 23 months, cooperation will be established between the institutions in charge of natural and cultural heritage protection in Croatia and Montenegro, through implementing joint programs, education, know-how transfer and awareness raising activities related to the protection of natural and cultural heritage.

The project lead partner in Montenegro is the Municipality of Tivat, while the partners in Croatia are the Physical Planning Institute, DUNEA and the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Natural Values in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
