Tivat, 26 March 2013 (Radio Dux) – The first meeting of Working Group responsible for the implementation of IPA cross-border project “Heritage-Driver of Development” was held in Tivat. The project lead partner is the Municipality of Tivat, while its local partners are Cultural Heritage Association NAPREDAK Gornja Lastva, from Tivat and NGO Expeditio, from Kotor. The lead partner in Croatia is the Physical Planning Institute of Dubrovnik-Neretva County.

“We have agreed on models of communication between the partners, as well as some activities to be implemented in the coming period. The partners also agreed on a preliminary visual identity of the project – its logo and slogan and discussed about a study tout of project partners to the south of France, in order to learn French experiences concerning the protection and valorization of cultural and natural heritage” – said Petar Vujović, project coordinator and advisor for the economic development and international collaboration at the Mayor of Tivat office.

Mr. Vujović added that the composition of working groups for legislative framework and participatory process has been defined “as the project activities include different studies aimed at improving a legislative framework for the protection and management of natural and cultural heritage and developing a plan and programme for the economic valorization of the area, etc.”

A contract on the implementation of the project “Heritage – Driver of Development, Dubrovnik and Boka Kotorska region – joint cross border activities in applying new methodologies in natural and cultural heritage protection and management” was signed on 8 February 2013 between the Delegation of the EU to Montenegro and the Municipality of Tivat. The total value of the project is 554.983,26 €, out of which 293,945.05 € is intended for the activities in Montenegro.

The project officially began on 11 March 2013. It aims to improve cooperation between the areas of Boka Kotorska and Dubrovnik, especially through: networking of different actors dealing with protection, planning and management of natural and cultural heritage; joint activities in applying new methodologies for natural and cultural heritage protection and management; joint promotion and dissemination; and creating models for other areas in Croatia and Montenegro based on the experienced gain in this project.
