In Dubrovnik  was held a round table on the topic: Independent cultural and social centers as public spaces, on February 25th, 2014. The roundtable discussed the spatial and user-control problems of the independent cultural scene in Croatia. Given that these problems are current in Montenegro as well, representatives of YCC Herceg Novi, Radio Bruškin, the Culture Council of the Municipality of Kotor and Expeditio took part in this event.

Space is a vital need for achievement of the expected programs and the functioning of the independent cultural scene in general, therefore the (im) possibility of space disposal is continuously one of the key problems in different local contexts in Croatia. On this occasion Lazareti Art Workshop (ARL) organized a roundtable discussion on the problems of the independent cultural scene, with an emphasis on the use and management of venues for a variety of associations and organizations, and cultural and social centers, very important for their activity. It was presented the current situation with the reconstruction of Lazareti and new contracts, as well, which beneficiaries of this part of the Lazareti recently signed with the City of Dubrovnik. It was also discussed about the ways in which the Lazareti Art Workshop, Desa and Student Theatre Lero , along with other occasional users of the area, will continue to function. Experiences were exchanged with other organizations from the Croatia who also operate in a way to integrate more users and applications, and therefore create a new much-needed public space.
