In May of 2014, Headley Trust Foundation approved funding for the Expeditio project titled: Traditional materials and building techniques in Boka Kotorska. Below you can read a brief description of the project.

The use of traditional crafts, techniques and materials is one of the most important elements in the restoration and maintenance of the architectural heritage. Continuity of using traditional techniques and crafts as part of the architectural heritage is fundamental for its expression and essential for the repair and restoration of the architectural heritage.

In general, there is a lack of available information on traditional techniques, crafts and materials. The existing literature on this topic, in Southeast European countries, including Montenegro, is insufficient and scattered.

Given the lack of appropriate examples of restoration of traditional wooden windows and application of lime mortar to traditional buildings, and lack of information on our language concerning this topic, there is a need for literature on traditional techniques, crafts and materials. Expeditio has conceived this project in order to continue improving the knowledge and skills of traditional materials and the use of building techniques, focusing on the wooden windows and lime mortar.

  • Demonstration od adequate access through concrete activities on restoration
