Regional platform KOOPERATIVA representatives in visit to Montenegro

Four representatives of regional platform KOOPERATIVA, headquartered in Zagreb, will visit Montenegro on September 21-23^rd 2015. Visit is organized in cooperation with Expeditio, given that Tatjana Rajic, our program manager, became recently a member of the Steering Committee of this network. The aim of the visit is to introduce members of KOOPERATIVA from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia to the work and activities of the independent cultural scene in Montenegro, so that we can jointly work on it’s strengthening and further development.

Also, one of the aims of the KOOPERATIVA visit is working on development of partnerships between independent cultural scene actors in Montenegro as well as organizations that work in the Region.

Kooperativa is jointly established by 21 independent culture organizations from the region: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia, active in all areas of contemporary cultural and artistic creativity. Our platform deals with strengthening the capacity of the independent culture organizations by transferring good practices and knowledge; empowerment of stakeholders that contribute to the development of cultural policies in the region; and to creation of conditions for the continuous implementation of partnership projects between independent culture associations that operates in various countries of South Eastern Europe. "The civil sector and independent cultural scene have great significance to the culture; they connect it with other cultures, decentralize it, and change negative cultural practices and stereotypes. The quality of this scene depends on the creativity and innovation of its actors, their involvement in international projects. In relation to the independent cultural scenes in the region, the Montenegrin independent scene is underdeveloped. It is necessary to establish operational database in this area; establish a strategic partnership and better cooperation between independent culture actors with cultural institutions at national and local level; improve management capacities of the participants of the independent cultural scene, especially on the development of project proposals for EU funds for culture and provide space for the creation of independent cultural centers intended for their actions. "
