PARK(ing) Day is an event that is held annually around the world. On that day, the citizens, artists, students, NGOs and all interested, are converting parking lots in temporary public spaces open for all. Parking lots are activated as a place of creativity, experimentation, promotion of social values, political and cultural expression and social interaction. For the third time in Montenegro, PARK(ing) Day will be held in Kotor and for the first time in Podgorica. PARK(ing) Day in Kotor will be held in the parking lot "Riva" (in front of the Old Town), on Friday, September 18, 2015, 5:00 p.m. to 21:00 h.
As well as the previous years, PARKing Day is realized in cooperation with numerous local actors, citizens, artists, NGO activists who will turn parking lots into temporary public spaces to promote different social values and encourage more active and creative use of public spaces. As well as last year, LLC Utility Kotor will provide a number of parking lots for the event in the parking Riva.
City residents around the world are aware of the need for new approaches to the creation of urban spaces and it is understood that the conversion of even small parts of the transport infrastructure, even temporarily, could change the character of the city. By turning parking spaces into public parks, free medical facilities, art galleries, etc., citizens across the world, during the PARK(ing) Day, are creating rich new ground for creative experimentations and activism.
We invite all interested citizens to come to the parking "Riva" where they will be able to see various examples of creative design of parking lots and take part in them! We should together indicated the need for a large number of imaginative open public spaces!

Parking Day in Montenegro is organized by the NGO "Nasa akcija" in cooperation with NGO Expeditio from Kotor. The project is supported by the Fund for Active Citizenship (FAKT), Tourist Board of Kotor, Ltd. Utility Kotor, Port of Kotor, "Pinjata" Kotor and "Kamelija" Kotor.
