Who are the organizations that deal with CITIES and their sustainability (from the promotion of walking and cycling, through waste management, housing, public spaces, promoting the energy eficiency, the involvement of citizens etc.) in Montenegro and what are their challenges? The focus group organized within the project ACT4CITY gathered 14 actors of Montenegrin independent scene (non-governmental organizations, associations, etc.) and universities. The intention was to explore what are the challenges of these actors, their need for networking and framework of their action.
The focus group was held on Friday 06 November 2015 at the Foundation Petrovic Njegos in Podgorica.
As a reminder, the concept of sustainable cities is aimed at improving the quality of life in cities, including their ecological, cultural, social and economic component, leaving no problems for future generations. The basic characteristics of a sustainable city are: resources and services available to everyone; public transportation used as a viable alternative to using the car (it is safe and reliable); safe walking and riding bikes; safe open public spaces, accessible and pleasant; used renewable resources; waste seen as a resource and recycled wherever possible; energy efficient new homes; available affordable housing; strongly related community; social and cultural facilities accessible to everyone.
