Description: The village of Godinje on Skadar Lake is one of the most valuable and most attractive rural communities in Montenegro. As such, it has been recognized by experts involved in cultural heritage protection. However, a detailed study has not yet been conducted. The local community has recognized the potential of this area,

and in Godinje, there is NGO GODINJE, which has already started with activities of revitalization of the village. In order to continue with this process in a quality way, it is necessary to approach Godinje as a rural area of special importance, with respect to modern principles and methodologies of work in protection and revitalization of such valuable areas.

Based on the previous experience in similar projects in Perast and the rural areas in Grbalj, non-governmental organization EXPEDITIO has been invited by the NGO GODINJE to conduct necessary surveys and researches in Godinje, within the framework of the architectural workshop.

The first step in this process was to make architectural documentation and database, which will serve as a necessary foundation for all further activities of revitalization and reconstruction of the village. It was our aim for this architectural workshop to be used as a pilot project for architectural research and valuation of rural heritage and to serve as an example to other villages in the area of Skadar Lake and Montenegro.

The idea was to acquaint the school participants with the new methodology of work in research and valuation of rural heritage and to encourage them to acquire knowledge on traditional architecture.
