nifob logoThe project «New Ideas for Old Buildings - NIFOB» funded by the EU through “Europe for Citizens” Programme has been successfully finished. The project included the organizing of seven (7) events that you can read about below.


Event no 1

Participants: the event was attended by 63 citizens, including 43 participants from Slovenia and 20 invited guests.

Six (6) participants from Palmanova (Italia), 4 participants from Pula (Croatia), 4 participants from Nikšić and Kotor (Montenegro), 3 participants from Oberhausen (Germany), 1 participant from Riga (Latvia), 1 participant from Belgrade (Serbia) and 1 participant from Thessaloniki (Greece).

Location / Dates: the event was held in Ajdovščina, Slovenia, from 28 September to 30 September 2015.

Short description: the aim of the event was to launch the project, strengthen a cooperation network and find solutions for the revitalization of empty buildings in Ajdovšina, with special emphasis on the city square, through involving citizens in the decision-making process and exchanging good practices, expertise and knowledge.

Event no 2

Participants: the event was attended by 84 citizens, including 58 participants from Montenegro and 26 invited guests.

Eleven (11) participants from Belgrade (Serbia), 7 participants from Trebinje (Bosnia and Herzegovina), 4 participants from Ljubljana and Ajdovščina (Slovenia), 3 participants from Pula (Croatia) and 1 participant from Skopje (Macedonia).

Location / Dates: the event was held in Nikšić, Montenegro, from 8 December to 10 December 2015.

Short description: the aim of the event was to strengthen the cooperation network, increase citizen participation in making decisions about management of public property in Nikšić, contributing thus to sustainable urban development, as well as to promote concrete solutions for more efficient use of public property in Montenegro.

Event no 3

Participants: the event included 151 citizens, including 105 participants from Serbia and 46 invited guests.

Eleven (11) participants from Nikšić, Podgorica, Kotor and Herceg Novi (Montenegro),10 participants from Ajdovščina, Ljubljana and Maribor (Slovenia), 9 participants from Pula, Zagreb and Dubrovnik (Croatia), 5 participants from Sarajevo and Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina ), 4 participants from Oberhausen and Dusseldorf (Germany), 2 participants from Paris (France), 1 participant from Thessaloniki (Greece), 1 participant from Riga (Latvia), 1 participant from Skopje (Macedonia), 1 participant from Stockholm (Sweden), 1 participant from Budapest (Hungary).

Location / Dates: the event was held in Belgrade, Serbia, from 22 February to 23 February 2016.

Short description: the aim of the event was to strengthen the cooperation network and develop solutions for the revitalization of empty buildings in Belgrade, with a special focus on former military buildings and devise new models for the management of state- and city-owned buildings, through involving citizens in the decision-making process and exchanging good practices, expertise and knowledge.

Event no 4

Participants: the event was attended by 77 citizens, including 31 participants from Croatia and 46 invited guests.

Fourteen (14) participants from Ajdovščina, Ljubljana and Maribor (Slovenia), 8 participants from London (United Kingdom), 5 participants from Bordeaux and Limoges (France), 5 participants from Bilbao (Spain), 3 participants from Riga and Cesis (Latvia), 3 participants from Belgrade (Serbia), 3 participants from Oberhausen and Berlin (Germany), 3 participants from Lisbon (Portugal) and 2 participants from Kotor (Montenegro).

Location / Dates: the event was held in Pula, Croatia, from 26 April to 28 April 2016.

Short description: the aim of the event was to strengthen the cooperation network and develop solutions for the revitalization of unused buildings in Pula, with special emphasis on temporary usage and the role of the city administration in supporting and promoting the re-use of empty buildings and the remains of urban areas, through involving citizens in the decision-making process and exchanging good practices, expertise and knowledge.

Event no 5

Participants: the event was attended by 51 citizens, including 34 participants from Latvia and 17 invited guests.

Five (5) participants from Oberhausen, Essen and Kamen (Germany), 4 participants from Ajdovščina, Ljubljana and Maribor (Slovenia), 2 participants from Pula (Croatia), 2 participants from Roma (Italy), 1 participant from Kotor (Montenegro), 1 participant from Lorient (France), 1 participant from the Hague (the Netherlands) and 1 participant from Koksijde-Bad (Belgium).

Location / Dates: the event was held in Cesis, Latvia, from 6 June to 9 June 2016.

Short description: the aim of the event was to strengthen the cooperation network and develop solutions for the revitalization of unused buildings in Cesis, with a special focus on historical properly of the city, through involving citizens in the decision-making process and exchanging good practice, expertise and knowledge.

Event no 6

Participants: the event was attended by 77 citizens, including 51 participants from Germany and 26 invited guests.

Seven (7) participants from Ajdovščina, Ljubljana and Maribor (Slovenia), 4 participants from Riga and Cesis (Latvia), 4 participants from Nikšić and Kotor (Montenegro), 4 participants from Middlesbrough and Huddersfield (Great Britain), 3 participants from Rome (Italy) , 1 participant from Rotterdam (the Netherlands), 1 participant from Belgrade (Serbia), 1 participant from Thessaloniki (Greece) and 1 participant from Helsinki (Finland).

Location / Dates: the event was held in Oberhausen, Germany, from 6 September to 9 September 2016.

Short description: the aim of the event was to strengthen the cooperation network, promote participatory and bottom-up approaches in the management of public property and sustainable urban development, with special emphasis on efficient management of empty buildings in Oberhausen connected to innovative models of cooperation – work and coexistence of refugees and local people.

Event no 7

Participants: the event was attended by 129 citizens, including 90 participants from Slovenia and 39 invited guests.

Thirteen (13) participants from Pula, Velika Gorica, Borovo and Karlovac (Croatia), 8 participants from Belgrade, Kraljevo and Stari Grad (Serbia), 6 participants from Nikšić, Kotor and Herceg Novi (Montenegro), 5 participants from Graz and Judenburg (Austria) 4 participants from Riga and Cesis (Latvia) and 3 participants from Oberhausen (Germany).

Location / Dates: the event was held in Maribor, Slovenia, from 1 December to 2 December 2016.

Short description: the aim of the event was to finalize the NIFOB project and strengthen the cooperation network. The NIFOB partners tried to develop solutions for the revitalization of empty buildings in Maribor, with special emphasis on Pekarna, through involving citizens in the decision-making process and exchanging good practice, expertise and knowledge.
