As a part of the project „Managing Space – Promoting European Standards“, funded by the European Agency for Reconstruction - European Integration Fund, a workshop „Strategic planning and project management“, was held from 2 – 4 December 2005 in Kotor.

The workshop was run by Mojca Hrabar from a consultant firm OIKOS, Development consulting Ltd., Domžale, Slovenia.
OIKOS is a consulting company established in 1989. It aims at defining innovative and practical solutions for sustainable development. The main areas of its activity are: regional development, nature protection, environmental management and rural development

In developing and providing its services, Oikos primarily focuses on strengthening innovativeness, developing services with higher value added, and maintaining the market-leading role and directing market development. Some of their most important achievements are:
• 1996 - The Soča River Management Plan is developed, making Oikos the first company in Slovenia with which a consultancy agreement was made within the PHARE programme.
• 1997 – The first Local Environmental Action Plan in Slovenia, elaborated for the Municipality of Domžale.
• 2002 - The first ex-ante evaluation of regional development programmes in Slovenia and Regional Development Programme for the Ljubljana Region.
• 2004 – following the accession of Slovenia into EU, Oikos is involved in planning within the INTERREG programme for Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia, as well as in preparing applications for Structural Funds.

The workshop was aimed at instructing participants, through theory and practice, on how to define project aims, write project proposals, prepare project documentation, about the methods and techniques of project management, the European standards in project management and spatial planning, as well as fund raising.

The workshop was designed to encourage active participation, through practical preparation of all phases of a project, from identifying concrete project ideas, to preparing tender documentation, writing project proposals and presenting project results.

The workshop was attended by EXPEDITIO members from Kotor and Belgrade and members of our partner organization P.a.P.S. from Belgrade.
