The treatment of modern architecture as an important segment of cultural heritage has not yet been satisfactory in Montenegro. Unfortunately, there are still no officially protected cultural  heritage from this period. There are very few examples of good restoration, which are more the result of investors’ awareness than of a systematic approach. Therefore, modern architecture and construction heritage from the recent past of Montenegro will have to be identified and legally protected in the foreseeable future, and the guidelines on their conservation and re-utilisation will have to be adopted. In addition, Montenegro presently lacks expertise in this field since protection and conservation of modern architecture is specific compared to protection of traditional architecture. We believe that the participation of the Expeditio representative in the MARC 2011 course will contribute to the improvement of treatment of this segment of cultural heritage of Montenegro.
