EXPEDITIO invites all interested people to apply for the participation in a two-day course on permaculture, which will be held in Kavač, Boka Kotorska (Montenegro), on 23-24 June 2012.
The course on permaculture brings together the activities planned within two projects currently implemented by EXPEDITIO: Valorization of the Vernacular Heritage in Montenegro and Promoting the Principles of Sustainable Development in Public Spaces of Boka Kotorska.
The permaculture course will be held at the House of Free Thought in Kavač. This traditional stone house, with its surrounding plot, is a typical example of vernacular architecture in Boka Kotorska. Considering that it is managed by an NGO, the house represents a specific public space used for different activities.
Permaculture from permanent agriculture is a branch of ecological design and ecological engineering which develops sustainable human settlements, helps build a healthy society and self-maintained agricultural systems modeled from natural ecosystems. Permaculture is a way of the organization of life, modeled on nature, life with the lowest consumption of energy.

The permaculture course will be led by Tomislav Gjerkeš and Ira Zorko from Slovenia. Tomislav Gjerkeš is a permaculture designer who tries to live by permaculture. He owns a company and his focus is on ecosystems interwoven in infrastructure, economic and social networks. Ira Zorko is an architect. Inspired by nature and culture of all times and traditions, he understands and tries to apply architecture, parmaculture and art as a living language, complementary to the spoken ones.
Participation in the course, except for the travel expenses, will be covered by the organizer. The participants are expected to cover their travel expenses on their own. For a limited number of participants, who are not from Kotor, Tivat, Budva or Herceg Novi , accommodation will be privided in the House of Free Thought. It might also be possible to organize sleeping in tents.
The course will be delivered in Montenegrin/ Serbian/ Croatian/ Bosnian language.
All those who are interested to take part in the permaculture course are kindly asked to send their CV and a short motivation letter (max 150 words) in which they should outline in what ways they plan to apply the knowledge of permaculture acquired during the course.
