Polish Experiences Meet Montenegro Challenges

poljskaProject “Polish Experiences Meet Montenegro Challenges on NGO Capacity Building” was initiated by the Institute for Sustainable Development in Warsaw, which was one of the most active social organizations in awareness raising on the way to Poland accession to the European Union. Partners of the Institute for Sustainable Development on this project were: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Montenegro and Sustainable Development Office and, as the main partner, EXPEDITIO Center for Sustainable Spatial Development from Kotor. The project was realized thanks to the help of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland within the tasks related to foreign and international development cooperation aid. Donor: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, within the framework of the foreign assistance programme in 2006.

In Bratislava, on 3 March 2006, an international seminar „Developing Philanthropy: Public Benefit and its Implications for Society“ was organized by Open Society Foundation Bratislava and Slovak Donors’ Forum. The Seminar was attended by around 60 participants, representatives of non-governmental organizations, state institutions and charitable organizations from 12 countries of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, Great Britain, Netherlands and Japan.

In Poland, from November 12 to 19, 2006, a study tour was organized for representatives of administration and non-governmental organizations from Montenegro to visit Polish institutions that deal with EU integration. The study tour was entitled “For you it could be difficult, too – Make the process less painful”.

Description: In Poland, from 12 to 19 November 2006, a Study tour was organized for representatives of administration and non-governmental organizations from Montenegro to Polish institutions that deal with EU integration. The study tour was titled “For you could be difficult, too – Make the process less painful”. It was aimed at transmitting Polish experience of EU integration process, especially in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development.

EXPEDITIO is a non-governmental organization whose mission is to encourage sustainable spatial development in Montenegro and SEE region through activity in the fields of sustainable architecture, cultural heritage, urban planning and through projects that encourage overall development of the civil society. Expeditio was established in 1997.
