mechelen-1A representative of the non-governmental organisation EXPEDITIO participated in the conference “Heritage Care through Active Citizenship” - a European Conference on Civil Society Organisations active in the Field of Heritage, which was held in Mechelen, Belgium, on March 23-24, 2009.

At the conference, 135 international participants and 45 local participants represented the diversity of the European civil society for heritage: local, regional, national and European voluntareer organisations, civil society organisations, umbrella organisations, network organisations, foundations, etc., that are active in the broad fields of tangible and/or intangible heritage. kucice1Within project “Strengthening the Capacities of Local Governments for Carrying Out Concepts of Energy Efficiency”, NGO Green Home from Podgorica organized the round table on the following subject: “Possibilities for Application of Energy Efficiency Measures and the Usage of Restorable Energy Resources in Local Communities”. It took place on April the 10th in “Palm” hotel in Tivat. The representative of Expeditio had the presentation about sustainable building and sustainable cities concept.

At the end of 2004, EXPEDITIO received a two-year grant for a project entitled "Centre for Sustainable Spatial Development" from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. During 2005/2006, the Centre will be dealing with the following topics in the context of sustainable spatial development: spatial planning, sustainable architecture, cultural heritage protection and public advocacy. Besides covering operational expenses for the EXPEDITIO office, the project budget will cover a wide range of activities: creating a database and a study on sustainable spatial development of Skadar Lake, offering workshops on the topic of sustainable development, monitoring of the drafting and implementation of the Law on tje Protection of Cultural Monuments, collecting press clipping regarding sustainable development, etc. The approved grant for 2005/2006 amounts to $75,000.

gradimo odrzivo 1Brošura pod nazivom “Gradimo održivo!” sadrži 34 strane o principima i primjerima održivog građenja. Publikaciju je realizovala Nataša Ilinčić, arhitekta, saradnica EXPEDITIO u slopu rada sektora za održivu arhitekturu i dizajn EXPEDITIO2.

Materijal predstavljen na sajtu www.gradovi.cg.yu, sada je dostupan i na engleskom jeziku. Sajt je dio istoimene kampanje koju je EXPEDITIO organizovao tokom 2004. godine pod pokroviteljstvom UNDP-a. Iako je kampanja završena juna 2004. godine, kroz izložbe i putem web sajta nastavljamo sa promovisanjem ove teme.

Pocetkom 2005. odobren nam je projekat- kampanja “Kuća - prijatelj životne sredine” od strane Evropske agencije za rekonstrukciju sa sedistem u Podgorici. Osnovni cilj projekta je smanjenje štetnog uticaja izgrađene strukture na kvalitet životne sredine u Crnoj Gori. Ciljne grupe u projektu su - sekretarijati za urbanizam u lokalnim samoupravama, nevladine organizacija, djeca i mladi, predstavnici medija, mladi stručnjaci i šira javnost Crne Gore.

Cooperation between EXPEDITIO and Svenska Byggnadsvårds föreningen (Swedish Association for Building Preservation) from Stockholm, which began in 2002 and which resulted in three volunteer restoration work camps being organized in Perast, continues further. The cooperation is also realized through the exchange of volunteers, and so far, 8 members of EXPEDITIO have participated in work camps organized by Byggnadsvårdsföreningen in Sweden.

An architecture student, Yu Sern Hong, from Singapore was here to share his experience in Asia with us in Kotor. Sern Hong, 26, is currently pursuing his Masters of Architecture degree and has been in Kotor till 14 th July, to learn about the life and architecture here, as well as about Expeditio. He is also a member of mAAN (modern Asian Architecture Network --- an international organization concerned with the heritage and development of Asian cities.

As a part of the project „Managing Space – Promoting European Standards“, funded by the European Agency for Reconstruction - European Integration Fund, a workshop „Strategic planning and project management“, was held from 2 – 4 December 2005 in Kotor.

The workshop was run by Mojca Hrabar from a consultant firm OIKOS, Development consulting Ltd., Domžale, Slovenia.

In Tunis, from 16-19 November 2005, the second phase of the World Summit of the Information Society was held. The only representative of a non-governmental sector from Serbia and Montenegro was NGO EXPEDITIO, the Centre for Sustainable Spatial Development, from Kotor.

The Summit in Tunis was built on the foundations of a shared vision and a concrete Action plan that were established in the first phase of the World Summit of the Information Society in Geneva in 2003, with the aim of bridging the digital divide and realizing full potentials of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) for faster economic and social development. The Summit was opened by Mr. Kofi Annan, the SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS.

In Brussels, on 7 December 2005, the European Cultural Heritage Forum “Cultural Heritage Counts for Europe ” was held. The only participant from Serbia and Montenegro was a representative of the non-governmental organization EXPEDITIO, the Centre for Sustainable Spatial Development, from Kotor. The Forum was organized by EUROPA NOSTRA, the Pan-European Federation for Cultural Heritage, with the cooperation of the European Economic and Social Committee. The Forum was attended by more than 200 participants, representatives of EU Institutions and non-governmental organizations, from around 40 countries.


On 21 January 2006, MLA - Multilateral Academy from Dortmund organized a Cultural Forum within the project "Look Southeast". At the Forum, a representative of EXPEDITIO held a presentation with the topic «The culture of reminiscence – is there a future for the treatment of past?». Besides EXPEDITIO, the Forum was attended by: Gisela Kallenbach – a member of the European Parliament and a member of the Regional Development Council and the delegation for relations with the southeastern European countries, Ivan Lovrenović – a writer (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Zehra Kacapor - UNICEF (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Ivan Djurovic - NGO Artikulacija from Podgorica.

We wish to inform you that we have started conducting a new project that aims to include the conclusions, visions and guidelines defined by the National Strategy of Sustainable Development (NSSD) into the Spatial Plan of the Republic of Montenegro. Both documents are currently being drafted.

Our organization has been actively engaged in the process of drafting the NSSD as a member of the expert group for social development. We are therefore fully acquainted with the contents of the document and its full drafting process.

Pursuant to the decision of the Government of the Republic of Montenegro to form a National Sustainable Development Council, as of February 2, 2006, our organization has been appointed as a member of the Council.

The National Sustainable Development Council consists of 40 members including the following: 9 ministers of the Government of Montenegro, mayors from 3 municipalities, 9 managers of public enterprises, a rector of the University of Montenegro, 9 managers of business firms from Montenegro, independent experts, presidents of Montenegrin and Duklja Academies of Science and 5 representatives of non-governmental organizations. The Council is presided over by the Prime Minister of Montenegro.

On 17-18 March 2006, in Cetinje, EXPEDITIO held a workshop titled "Promoting cultural resources and project writing", within the British Council’s project »Education and training in the field of cultural heritage in Montenegro«. The workshop was attended by representatives of cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations from the northern municipalities of Montenegro - Mojkovac, Kolasin, Pljavlja, Bijelo Polje, Berane, Plav, Savnik and Zabljak.

Zorica Tomanovic, B.Sc. arch. eng., who is our associate and member of the managing board of EXPEDITIO, has recently defended her M.A. thesis at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Belgrade. Her M.A. thesis entitled “Preservation and conservation of the settlement Žabljak Crnojevića from the aspect of sustainable development” is a research piece that contributes to enhancing the field of spatial and city planning, especially the aspects of conservation and revitalization of architectural and cultural-historical heritage of the rural areas of Montenegro.


QLF-Atlantic Center for the Environment's First Alumni Congress took place in Hungary 2-6 April, 2006. QLF exists to support the rural communities and environment of eastern Canada and New England, and to create models for stewardship of natural resources and cultural heritage that can be applied worldwide. The Congress was QLF's first-ever gathering of program "alumni" from all of the regions where QLF works: the Atlantic Region, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America and the Caribbean. EXPEDITIO representative also took part in the Congress.

At the initiative of NGO ANIMA – the Centre for Women and Peace Education from Kotor, on 20 April 2006, EXPEDITIO held one-day training in “Project writing”. The workshop was held as a voluntary contribution of EXPEDITIO and it was attended by 14 female participants (activists of ANIMA and other organizations, students, etc.).

This is a public announcement regarding the articles in the daily newspaper “Vijesti” on June 6th and 7th 2006, about the construction of new hotels located at “URC Slavija” and the existing hotel “FJORD” in Kotor.

As an organization concerned with space and promoting its values, we wish to bring to public attention these issues which, in our opinion, might pose a serious threat to Kotor and the Bay of Boka Kotorska as an exceptionally valuable space within Montenegro.

We welcome you to the presentation of Jelena Pejković’s Master’s Thesis, completed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in December 2005. The topic of her work is „Awakening Perast: Interconnecting Past and Present Architecture in a Historic Town” and her thesis states that starting a Conservation school and dispersing it through Perast’s ruins would contribute not only to the awakening and the development of this town but also to the affirmation of contemporary architecture in the town’s historic texture. The lecture will be held at the Museum of Perast, on August 10, 2006 at 20:00. Jelena Pejković graduated from Harvard University in 2003 cum laude with a special concentration in Architecture and Urban Design. During her graduate studies she was a representative of MIT at the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Paris. WELCOME!

Within the campaign "LOOK AROUND – THINK ABOUT SPACE!” a seminar “Sustainable Building in Montenegro” will be held in Cetinje, from 24 to 27 August 2006. The seminar is intended for young experts engaged in civil engineering – architects, civil and mechanical engineers, as well as students in these fields, who live and work in Montenegro.

odrziva gradnja 1Posljednja aktivnost u okviru kampanje „Gledaj oko sebe – razmišljaj o prostoru!“, koju je EXPEDITIO pokrenuo u aprilu 2005. godine (u trajanju 18 mjeseci), a finansirala Evropska unija posredstvom Evropske agencije za rekonstrukciju iz Podgorice, je objavljivanje publikacije „ODRZIVA GRADNJA – Evropska dokumenta iz oblasti održivog prostornog razvoja“.

The magazine A 10, #11 (September – October 2006) published an article about the activities of EXPEDITIO aimed at raising public awareness of a better quality living environment in Montenegro. A10 is a magazine that provides a concise and up-to-date survey of the latest developments in European architecture, from the Arctic Circle to the Mediterranean Sea. Po narodnom predanju, grad je često i rado pohodio Kraljević Marko, pa ga mnogi i danas nazivaju "Markovim gradom". Na lijevoj obali Ibra, tamo gdje u svoje korito prihvata rijeku Sitnicu, visoko na brdu iznad Kosovske Mitrovice, nalazi se Zvečan, jedan od najstarijih i najznamenitijih srpskih srednjovjekovnih gradova.

 

bog mitraHram Boga Mitre u Jajcu smatra se jednim od najznačajnijih spomenika antičog doba u BiH. Prestonica bosanskih kraljeva očuvala je mnoge tragove svoje duge i burne prošlosti. Gradovi i gradska naselja, slično ljudima i svemu drugom u prirodi, imaju obilježja i znamenja po kojima ih razlikujemo i prepoznajemo. Jajce je jedan od onih malobrojnih gradova koji su od samog postanka u čvrstom zagrljaju prirode; obdareni znamenjima i neprolaznom ljepotom; ukrašen koloritom jedne od najljepših rijeka i vodopadom kakav je mogla da stvori samo Pliva, čarobna rijeka podno Janja i Vitoroga.

 

StobiU dolini Vardara, nedaleko od Velesa, nakon devet vijekova oživljen antički Stobi, nekadašnji glavni grad provincije „Makedonija Salutaris. Ko još nije čuo za antički Stobi? Za taj stari helenski grad nedaleko od Velesa, kraj varošice Gradsko, na samom ušću Crne reke u Vardar. Vjerujemo da je malo onih koji su putovali glavnom makedonskom magistralom ka Đevđeliji, Solunu i sjevernim grčkim obalama a da makar na kratko, u predahu, nisu posjetili Stobi. Jedno od najvećih, svakako i najznačajnijih arheoloških nalazišta u Makedoniji.

Sve što je imalo nekog bitnijeg odraza na život znamenitih ljudi, kakvi su Tesla, Pupin, Andrić, Nušić, Milanković i drugi velikani srpske nauke i kulture, s vremenom i samo postaje glasovito i znamenito. Takav je slučaj i sa užim zavičajem Vuka Stefanovića Karadžića.

antigoneaU Tiranu sam stigla avionom, primicala se ponoć. Švedska nevladina organizacija „Baština bez granica“ organizovala je susret onih koji se bave nasleđem iz Bosne i Hercegovine, Crne Gore, Srbije i Vojvodine, i Albanije. Ispred hotela „Kalifornija“ u centru grada, palme i gusto rastinje na maloj površini, pored zgrada u kolonijalnom stilu. Tirana je deo sveta sa aromom Mediterana, a bez mora. U hotelskoj sobi, kao svakoj drugoj na bilo kom delu Planete (kao da pre toga nije postojala poluvekovna zabranjena albanska tertorija gde stranci nisu bili dobrodošli), u kupatilu gosta čeka par papuča, ne za poneti, već da se koriste na licu mesta. I to je jedino iznenađenje ove noći, na novoj teritoriji.

 

Crkva Sveti Nikola 228 septembra 2003. godine, postavljena je na hrid podno Krimovice u Grblju crkvica Svetog Nikole, uz pomoć vojne ploveće dizalice. Crkvica je obnovljena na kopnu i prevezena kamionom i morskim putem do hridi. Septembra 2003. godine, obnovljena je malena crkva posvećana zaštitniku pomoraca i putnika Svetom Nikoli, koju je, po predanju, izgradio Grk pomorac na morskoj hridi u blizini sela Krimovice u Grblju u Boki Kotorskoj.

zabljak 2Jedna od mnogobrojnih bajkovitih priča koje možete doživjeti krstareći regijom Skadarskog jezera dočekaće vas na kupastom, kamenom uzvišenju, okruženom vodotocima rijeka Karatune, Moračice, Šegrtnice i Sjerave. Tu se lociralo naselje Žabljak Crnojevića "priča" o čijem početku ne možete naći vjerodostojne podatke, ali sigurno možete povjerovati da je počela negdje u doba vizantijskog cara Konstantina Porfirogenita, zatim se "pisala" u doba popa Dukljanina kao Lug, centar župe Podlužje i ovjekovječila u narodnoj pjesmi stihom: "U Žabljaku, podluškome gradu". Prve istorijske podatke o Žabljaku nalazimo tek iz sredine XV vijeka, iz doba Crnojevića, koji su u njemu stolovali od 1403. godine i po kojima je i dobio ime.

 

Pruga uskog kolosijeka Podgorica - Donja Plavnica sagradjena je 1927. godine za potrebe povezivanja stanovništva južne Zete sa Podgoricom koja je u to vreme naglo razvijala svoj novi centar sjeverno od rječice Ribnice u ortogonalno regulisanoj Novoj Varoši, po principima evropskog urbanizma.

 

Ovo je nastavak price o kominskoj dijatreti, ili tačnije, dijatreta je dio ove priče. U pitanju je izložba TRAGOVI U RAMU, koju je pripremila Tanja Piperović, arheološkinja iz Podgorice, koja se bavi antičkim nakitom i predmetima pronađenim na arheološkim nalazištima u Crnoj Gori. Autor sjajnih fotografija je Lazar Pejović.

Komini1Predanje kaže da su majstori dijatreta* bili pod posebnom zaštitom rimskih careva i imali specijalni tretman, jer čovjek je za života mogao da napravi možda samo jednu.

Osim svoje primarne, praktične namjene ovi luksuzni pehari bili su i odraz pripadnosti određenom staležu, porodici, a vrlo je bitna i estetska kategorija jer se kroz njih reflektuju i ukus i moda jedne epohe, životni stil. Dijatreta kao kraljica večeri za trpezom moćnog gospodara ili samog cara, napravljena da bude izložena hiljadama očiju, da pokaže ljepotu, izazove uzdah, da svjedoci o raskoši...A, onda, možda, nakon mnogih pirova koje su prošli zajedno bude sahranjenja sa svojim vlasnikom...

 

botanicgardensVeliki gradski park u Tivtu utemeljen je daleke 1892. godine o čemu svjedoči natpis na tada postavljenom spomen obilježju sa kojega, prevedeno sa njemačkog, citamo: "Ovaj park je osnovao 1892.godine bivši mornaricki admiral Friherr Von Sterneck. Izgradnjom su rukovodili komandanti brodova Hnatek, Padevit, Ziegler, Denning, Heinrich i C.Lanjuz kao i poslovođa Nedwich".

manastir beskaPodručje Skadarskog jezera je jedno od najmanje poznatih oblasti u Crnoj Gori. Većina nas Crnu Goru prepoznaje po primorju ili Durmitoru i Žabljaku, ali Skadarsko jezero ništa manje ne zaostaje svojom ljepotom, posebnošću, bogatstvom kulturnog i istorijskog nasljeđa, raznovrsnošću prirodnog i životinjskog svijeta.

sv djordjeSamo se sluti, u tišini i melanholiji, što obavijaju jedno od dva školja pred Perastom, koliko tajni skriva ovo ostrvo kamenih zidova i vitkih čempresa. Ovaj komadić kopna između Veriga i Perasta, zbog svog položaja, bio je možda mjesto gdje se još od antičkog vremena grade utvrđenja. Po predanjima, koja su zabilježili stari hroničari i istoričari: Orbini, Balović i Zmajević, Iliri i Rimljani su ovdje podizali utvrde za odbranu Risna i povjerili ih Peraštanima na čuvanje.Očuvani odbrambeni zidovi sa puškarnicama su potvrda da je ostrvo u vrijeme venecijanske, francuske i austrijske vladavine Bokom korišćeno kao vojno utvrđenje.

 

Пераст1Peraški školji Sv. Đorđe i Gospa od Škrpjela su neodvojivo povezani sa istorijskim, pomorskim i kulturnim razvojem Perasta, sa kojim zajedno, čine najčarobniji dio Bokokotorskog zaliva. Mir školja Sv. Đorđa čuvaju visoki zidovi i vitki čempresi, ispod kojih su zauvijek usnuli u travi topovi koji su donosili nemir na ovo mjesto molitve i tišine.

 

karuc"Kula Sv. Petra na Karuču je najstariji objekat u naselju. Naime, selo se formiralo prije 200 godina, kada su stanovnici Rvaša tu podigli magacine, gdje su čuvali ribarsku opremu i vršili preradu ribe. Ovi objekti su, u početku, služili samo kao privremena staništa, u periodu intezivnog ribolova. Kasnije, sredinom prošlog vijeka, počelo je stalno naseljavanje Karuča. Do rata u selu je bilo oko 20 domaćinstava. Živjelo se bez struje i puteva, od malo stoke i nešto obradive zemlje u Dodošima, i naravno od ribolova. Poslije rata Karuč doživljava sudbinu mnogih crnogorskih sela. Počinje postepeno zamiranje i gašenje sela. Danas je aktivno samo nekoliko domaćinstava, iako je uvedena struja i probijen put.

 

Ime je dobio po obližnjem brdu Ostrogu. Često se naziva i Podmaine. Do ovog dvojnog toponima dolazi zbog blizine zapustjelog manastira Podmaine sa crkvom Sv. Petke. Okružen potocima i terasastim livadama iz njega se pruža impresivan pogled na Budvu i more.
