Partners on the project "Heritage-Driver of Development" invites all interested parties to apply for participation in the workshop on dry-stone masonry techniques, which will be held in the Upper Lastva, Tivat, in the period June 17-19. 2014. The workshop is organized as one of the events in the framework of the "Landscape Days." The aim of the workshop on dry-stone masonry techniques is short training for interested citizens about stone masonry in the traditional way.
WORKSHOP date: June 17–19. 2014. (Deadline for registration: Wednesday June 11th 2014.)
Place: Upper Lastva, Tivat, Montenegro
The workshop is intended for citizens interested in practical training in dry-stone masonry technique, representatives of institutions in the field of built heritage, representatives of media as well as all citizens who want landscape to be preserved, especially the cultural landscape of Vrmac.
The workshop, that will be conducted by two international experts in the dry-stone masonry technique, will be realized through the concrete work on the site in Upper Lastva.
The workshop will consist of two parts:
- June 17th and 18th 2014 - Practical work on dry-stone masonry in Upper Lastva.The aim of this part of the workshop is to familiarize and train participants with the stone building technique 'in the dry'. Training is done through practical work remodeling some of the collapsed boundaries in Upper Lastva. Participants will be divided into two groups, each of which will be managed by one professional, an expert in this technique of building.
- June 19th, 2014 in the House of Culture in Upper Lastva - Presentation of the result of practical work from previous two days and lectures on buildings made by masonry dry-stone technique in the Mediterranean, as well as the presentation of experiences in the field of protection, restoration and promotion of dry-stone building techniques, which will be held by experts who were workshop leaders.
Transportation will be provided for participants of the workshop, from Tivat to Upper Lastva and back, as well as food for the first two days of practice. Provision of accommodation for participants of the workshop is not planned.
