Architectural research of the French Embassy Building in Cetinje

Architectural researches of the former French Embassy Building in Cetinje were carried out with the aim to create, through the architectural analysis, necessary technical basis for further process of rehabilitation, as well as to present and promote values of this very important cultural heritage of Montenegro.

We hope that these findings will contribute to a better perception of the value of the former French Embassy as the oldest reinforced concrete building in Montenegro, recognizable by the façade packs of colorful glazed ceramic tiles, in whose realization, besides the designer Polo Gadea, participated Auguste Pere - one of the most important architects and engineers of the twentieth century, and Alexander Bigo - one of the foremost manufacturers of architectural ceramics at the time.

Architectural research building of the former French Embassy in Cetinje were carried out as one of the activities within the project "Ljubljana Process - Rehabilitating our common heritage", coordinated by the Task Force on Culture and Society Regional Cooperation Council (RCCTFCS), with headquarters in Cetinje. The Ministry of Culture is responsible for conducting activities in Montenegro. The project is funded by the European Union through a grant intended for sustainable rehabilitation of cultural heritage in the Western Balkans.
