In Tunis, from 16-19 November 2005, the second phase of the World Summit of the Information Society was held. The only representative of a non-governmental sector from Serbia and Montenegro was NGO EXPEDITIO, the Centre for Sustainable Spatial Development, from Kotor.

The Summit in Tunis was built on the foundations of a shared vision and a concrete Action plan that were established in the first phase of the World Summit of the Information Society in Geneva in 2003, with the aim of bridging the digital divide and realizing full potentials of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) for faster economic and social development. The Summit was opened by Mr. Kofi Annan, the SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS.
The Summit was attended by more than 19.000 participants from 174 countries and over 800 entities, including UN agencies and organizations, representatives of state, private and civil sector.

EXPEDITIO took part in the Summit within “SHARING THE FUTURE- at the ICT 4 all” initiative. In order to create an environment in which civil society and private sector from all parts of the world, and especially from developing countries, can exchange views and experiences on the use of ICT to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals, and concretely as means for bridging a poverty gap, on the use of ICT towards sustainable development, towards a new and efficient partnership in order to build an inclusive information society in the world, UNDP organized, with support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands, a number of parallel events and provided participation and presentation of more than 30 Small and Medium-size Enterprises (SMEs)/SME associations and 40 non-governmental organizations.

EXPEDITIO has exchanged experiences and established communication with other organizations, mainly from the South America. The exchange of experiences and recommendations of how to find solutions to concrete problems will assist us in finding a long-term approach to addressing issues that EXPEDITIO brings up with the aim of enhancing environment in Montenegro. Furthermore, presenting the work of our organization to other participants was an opportunity to establish a direct cooperation in future projects.
