Look Around – Think About Space

The campaign "Look Around - Think about Space!" Was launched by EXPEDITIO in April 2005. The aim of the campaign is gathering citizens of Montenegro around a topic that is a common problem for all of us which is treatening the environment by (inadequate) building. The territory covered by the campaign is Montenegro, and the project is implemented in cooperation with partners and associates from non-governmental organizations: Natura - Kolasin, Niksic Architects' Society, Napredak - Gornja Lastva, Club of Architects - Herceg Novi, Za Druga - Petrovac and the Society of Friends of Durmitor - Zabljak. The project will last 18 months and began in April 2005. The project is financed from the funds of the European Union through the European Agency for Reconstruction in Podgorica.

Bulletin of the campaign: “Look around - think about space!”

The campaign “Look Around – Think about Space!“ was launched by EXPEDITIO in April 2005. The campaign is aimed at gathering citizens of Montenegro around a topic of concern to all of us, namely the devastation of the environment by poorly planned building. This topic has not received much public attention and there is a lack of public awareness of how little time it takes to permanently destroy the precious natural and inherited values of a small area such as Montenegro.

WORKSHOP - PARTICIPATORY DECISION-MAKING IN THE AREA OF SPATIAL PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT

Within the project »Look Around – Think about Space! «, EXPEDITIO organized a workshop “Participatory decision-making in the area of spatial planning and management” on 19 -20 November 2005, which was attended by representatives of non-governmental organizations and state institutions. The workshop was held in the Trade Union Centre in Muo, Kotor.

The project is funded by EU – European Agency for Reconstruction – office in Podgorica. Additional information on the project can be found at the site www.prostor.cg.yu.

Billboards in PODGORICA and BUDVA

As the way of promoting the campaign “Look Around – Think about Space!”, two billboards and light boxes were placed in Budva and Podgorica on January 1, 2006. In addition to the logo and basic information about the campaign, they contain an invitation for taking part in the photo exhibition. The billboards and light boxes will remain in Budva during January and in Podgorica for 3 months, until the end of March 2006.

ROUND TABLE: INADEQUATE BUILDING IN MONTENEGRO–WAYS TO FINDING SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS

In Podgorica, on 21 February 2006, a round table „INADEQUATE BUILDING IN MONTENEGRO – WAYS TO FINDING SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS“ was held, within the campaign „Look Around – Think about Space!“ conducted by EXPEDITIO since April 2005, with the support of European Union, i.e. European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) office in Podgorica.

Exhibition: The Town I Want to Live in

The competition is a part of the campaign “Look Around – Think about Space” conducted by EXPEDITIO and funded by European Union through the European Agency for Reconstruction from Podgorica. The exhibition, at which you can see 100 works selected from the competition, was opened on 19 may 2006, at the KIC “Budo Tomovic” in Podgorica, and will continue for 10 days. WELCOME!

Photo-exhibition of examples of positive and negative built environments in Montenegro

We invite you to visit the photo-exhibition of examples of positive and negative built environments in Montenegro. The exhibition opened on Friday June 23, 2006, at 8:00 p.m. at the gallery “Perjanički dom of the Modern Art Centre” in Kruševac and continued for two weeks.

Certificates Awarded by Mr. Olli Rehn

On Friday, 7 July 2006, at the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) office in Podgorica non-governmental organizations from Montenegro that have been conducting civil society support projects (through the CARDS programme), one of which is EXPEDITIO, were awarded certificated for successful implementation of their projects. The certificates were awarded by Mr. Olli Rehn, a European commissioner for enlargement. A representative of EXPEDITIO received a certificate for the realization of the campaign “Look Around – Think about Space!” that has been conducted since April 2005 and finishes in October 2006.
